NEW MEXICO SERVICES/EXPERTISE

Marron and Associates, Inc. (Marron) is a small, woman-owned consulting firm with two decades of experience providing a full range of environmental services. The firm specializes in providing environmental clearance for federal, tribal, state, or local projects. This includes the preparation of environmental documentation (often pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA]), biological and cultural resource management, and regulatory compliance. Marron’s experienced staff guides projects through their unique complexities by providing quality technical, regulatory, and project management skills. Marron strives to identify issues and overcome challenges early in the process in order to provide practical problem solving, skillful planning, and efficient management for each project. This equates to providing quality services from a project’s beginning to its end.

The environmental process can be complex, particularly when a number of agencies are involved and Marron has a thorough understanding of the many regulatory requirements that affect projects, many of which come into play at the same time. For example, the firm routinely navigates within and through the boundaries of the NEPA; National Historic Preservation Act; Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980; Endangered Species Act; and Migratory Bird Treaty Act, as well as local, state, and tribal requirements. In determining the entities involved and the extent of that involvement, Marron integrates the appropriate regulatory provisions into project development throughout the environmental processes. Working extensively with the local offices of the regulatory agencies and developing personal relationships, supports project success.

Marron provides environmental consulting services to many engineering firms in New Mexico as well as working directly with federal, tribal, state, and local entities. Projects that are federally funded must adhere to NEPA, although a number of state agencies also follow federal regulations and adhere to that level of effort as well. Currently, projects typically have a number of funding sources — all with different requirements, formats etc. Marron has worked with many of these types of projects, is familiar with the numerous funding sources, and helps clients address specific needs. In general, however, in order to be in compliance with many of the regulatory agencies, environmental documentation and resource surveys are typically required. These include the environmental document itself (categorical exclusion, environmental assessment, or environmental impact statement) as well as biological investigations and reports and cultural resource surveys and reports. A number of other environmental services may be required including monitoring activities, specific permits required (e.g., 404 permits), hazardous materials investigations, public involvement efforts, and wetland studies and reporting. Marron has extensive experience providing these services to the engineering community.
